About DataMedics

The practice, and the people behind it

DataMedics is a data analytics and consulting practice working with institutions around the world. The work is simple to describe. We take the data an organisation already has, which is usually messy and incomplete, and turn it into something people can use to make decisions.

The work behind the name

One team, accountable for the work

DataMedics has worked with institutions since 2017, led by principal consultant Michael Tobiloba Amunega. We have delivered projects for United Nations agencies, a multilateral development bank, government bodies and private companies. We describe clients by type rather than by name, because we do not publish a client's name without their written permission.

Most projects follow the same path. We start with the decision the client needs to make, then clean and reconcile the data so it can be trusted, run the analysis the question calls for, and build the report or dashboard the team will actually use. On a national study we prepared and analysed data covering 37 regions. On a programme that spanned more than 20 countries we brought the separate datasets together, built the performance benchmarks the team used to allocate funding, and set up the reporting so it ran on its own and cut delays by about 60 percent.

For a United Nations agency we connected the monitoring dashboards straight to the client's Google BigQuery warehouse. The numbers on screen then match the numbers in the database, so nobody has to remember to export a file or refresh a spreadsheet before a meeting.

Get the tool right, get the data right, then build something your team can keep running after we have finished. It is the same approach on every project.

Training

So your team keeps running it

A system nobody on your team can run is just a cost with a dashboard on top, so training is part of the work rather than an add-on. We have designed and delivered advanced SPSS and statistics training for government agencies, training more than 45 professionals. That has included helping regulatory officers work more accurately, and helping aviation staff improve how they assess risk and make decisions.

Each project is written up with the problem, what we did, and what the client got. Where we have not measured a result yet, we say so instead of guessing a number.
